Xiaoyan Ou

Xiaoyan is a MSc student major in Civil Engineering specified in Geotechnical Engineering. Her work focuses on the Coupled Flow-Geomechanics Upscaling techniques of predicting the soil strength parameters of the heterogeneous McMurray formation (Oil Sands), in the past projects, she conducted the preparation of 3D realizations mimic the heterogeneous formation of the Oil Sands, updating permeability due to the development of plastic shear and volumetric change during the compression in the numerical Triaxial Compression Test. In the future she will enhance the Upscaling method with the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for computational efficiency in predicting soil strength.
